David Ransburg is the founder of The Convergent Group LLC, a management consulting firm that works in the space where business and people intersect. The firm offers executive assessment, coaching, and group facilitation services. Representative clients include Microsoft, SC Johnson, Panduit, Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, and numerous privately-held family businesses.
David has a rare combination of expertise in both business and psychology. He brings strong relationship skills, deep business knowledge, and broad-based real world experience to his engagements. Combining advanced degrees in both business and psychology with more than a dozen years of direct experience in industries such as manufacturing, real estate, and marketing, he is adept at helping individuals, teams, and business-owning families identify and achieve their goals.
Also, David has served on the faculty of Kellogg's "Leading Family Enterprises" course as well as Loyola University's Family Business Next Generation Leadership Institute. He was formerly a staff therapist at the renowned Family Institute at Northwestern University.
He recently co-authored the book Human Resources in the Family Business (2015) with Wendy Sage-Hayward and Amy M. Schuman. Filled with case studies, frameworks and practical tools, this book shows how HR practices can help family firms achieve their values-driven goals as a family and a business..
Educational Background
David received a BA in Economics from Stanford University, an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University.
He is certified to administer the Hogan Personality Assessments, Leadership Versatility Index 360, Voices 360. Work Place Big 5, and Influence Style Indicator instruments. Additionally, he has experience with the Myers-Briggs Type Indictator (MBTI), FIRO-B, and FIRO-Business assessments.
Other
David is a member of the American Psychological Association, a minority owner of the Peoria Chiefs Minor League Baseball Team, and was once a ski instructor in Vail, Colorado. He has a wonderful wife, two terrific kids, and a couple of nutty dogs.
